Meet Factfullness

The world is full
of “oh, really?”

We think that’s a rather good thing.

Factfullness is a small daily guessing game about everyday life in Britain. One question, a group of 100, and a chance to see something a little differently.

01 / A minute of curiosity

A hunch.
A guess.
A new perspective.

  1. 01

    Read the little details.

Every question tells you where its figure comes from, which group it represents, and the period it covers.

  2. 02

    Picture it out of 100.

Move the slider, type a percentage, or use the plus and minus buttons. Then commit to your hunch.

  3. 03

    See the bigger picture.

Reveal the answer, your distance in percentage points, and the story behind the number. Follow the source if your curiosity takes you further.

02 / Show your working

A fact needs
some context.

A number on its own only tells part of the story. We include the geography, reference period and population with every question, then link to its source with the answer.

We prefer primary sources, including official statistics. Questions are reviewed before publication. An England-only figure describes England; an older figure stays clearly dated. Neither stands in for Britain today.

The playable answer is rounded to the nearest whole percent. The reveal includes the published figure and any relevant caveat. Published estimates have limits, and a close guess isn’t a test of intelligence.

If a published question needs a material correction, we withdraw it instead of quietly changing the answer. An unavailable or withdrawn day doesn’t break your streak.

03 / A good habit

Little guesses.
Day after day.

A new question arrives at midnight in the UK. Complete it on its publication day to add to your streak. Today’s unanswered question won’t break yesterday’s streak while today is still open.

A streak follows consecutive days with an available question. A day without an edition, or one that has been withdrawn, gets skipped. Missing an available daily question ends the streak.

The archive holds the previous seven calendar days. Archive guesses are for fun: they don’t increase a streak or fill a missed day. A question left open after midnight also becomes an archive guess.

Your first guess is saved on this browser, so refreshing brings your result back. Clearing browser data, using private browsing, or changing device can mean starting fresh. If storage isn’t available, you can still play; we’ll let you know that your progress can’t be saved.

04 / The small print

Small game.
Light footprint.

No player accounts. No public leaderboard. Your guess history is held in local storage on your device. When you reveal a question, your guess is sent to the site to calculate and return the result; we don’t create a player profile or keep a server-side guess history.

The site uses the session and security cookies needed for requests and private editorial access. Sharing only happens when you choose it. Shared results leave out the answer, so your friends can have their own “oh, really?” moment.

Factfullness is an independent project. It isn’t affiliated with Gapminder or the book Factfulness.

Enough reading. Let’s have a guess.
